COMPANY OVERVIEW: The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental non-profit organization focused on conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. TNC operates in over 70 countries and territories, and all 50 US states, working with partners to address critical environmental issues including climate change and biodiversity loss. TNC's approach combines scientific research, policy engagement, and collaboration with public and private sectors to achieve large-scale conservation impact.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
+ Shape TNC Ohio’s strategic direction and long-term impact by contributing to executive decision-making and aligning priorities across governance, policy, fundraising, and program implementation through close collaboration with staff and service on four key committees (Policy Advocacy & Government Relations, Philanthropy, Executive, and Trusteeship)
+ Advance critical policy and public funding priorities by directly engaging with agency leaders and elected officials, notably advocating for the H2Ohio initiative and supporting mitigation, clean water, and clean energy investments
+ Lead Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement initiatives at the board level, fostering trust-based relationships with communities, universities, policymakers, and partner organizations across Ohio and the Midwest
+ Spearheaded the advocacy and creation of a key leadership position to implement inclusive conservation partnerships – now replicated at the Midwest level – to strengthen community engagement and participation
+ Strengthen academic partnerships, including co-developing a rotational internship program with a local land-grant university to expand promote collaborative research, and expand access and exposure to conservation careers, cultivating future leaders
